The library runs from the contributions of its founders and well-wishers. We have a tax-exempt trust and welcome donations of any size.
We DO NOT charge for membership because even a small membership fee would mean different things to different members. For access to be equal, it must be free.
Institutional funding for non-profits is increasingly restricted in India. Funding from the community, from you and me, is more essential than ever! Help us to keep meeting the need.
Volunteer or Intern
We welcome volunteers who are ready to make a regular commitment of a minimum of 2 hours per week. Likewise, we welcome interns from 10th Grade and above, for short and longer stays. The library offers a range of possible tasks in which to get involved, such as:-

Joining community walks to promote the library in low-income neighbourhoods

Building posts and funding campaigns on social media (website, Instagram, WhatsApp)

Cataloguing and preparing books for the shelves

Generating data reports from the circulation and member database

Helping the children browse shelves, identify and engage with books of their choice

Chasing up past-due books on the phone

Supporting children with homework

Delivering your own short course to a group of members.

Donate Books
If you have books you would like to donate, please get in touch by WhatsApp or email. We will first understand a bit about your collection. If we cannot use the books you have, we will offer them to sister libraries through the Free Libraries Network.
